Reports to: General Manager
Summary: The General Sales Manager oversees new and used vehicle sales departments,
developing measurable performance goals based on real-world analytics while building customer
retention/referral business. They also manage the efficient and profitable operation of the Finance
department. Oversee F&I Managers to assure all compliance and training is current along with
dealership policy and procedures.
Essential Duties:
- Supervise, hire and train new and used vehicle department managers and finance department managers
- Maintains high customer satisfaction standards
- Establish measurable monthly/quarterly/annual performance goals for sales and finance departments using gross and net profit targets, unit sales, etc
- Understand current and future government regulations governing vehicle sales and ensure dealership management consistently follows dealership policies and procedures
- Collaborate with Dealer/General Manager to ensure vehicle inventory is sufficient to meet forecasted demand and acquire/order used or new vehicles as appropriate
- Ensure vehicle inventory is physically and digitally displayed according to dealer and manufacturer guidelines
- Develop procedures to liquidate overage inventory and manage inventory days supply/turn/available days supply to ensure maximum balance of profit and inventory earn
- Remains fully compliant with Company HR training
- Other tasks as assigned
- Directs staffing and training in ways that will enhance the development and control of sales programs
- Administers and monitors factory-sponsored programs
- Reviews market analysis and sales reports to determine customer needs and volume potential to develops sales campaigns that achieve the goals of the sales and finance departments
- Adheres to a standard of professional ethics and is respectful to staff and customers
- Generate new lenders and maintain good lender relations
- Designs and places advertising for special finance
- Maintains a professional appearance
- Attends weekly sales meetings with Finance Department and Sales Department
- Schedules and leads weekly Finance Department meeting
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.)
- Four to 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to work in fast paced environment
- Superior verbal, written, and organizational skills
- Competent in Word, Excel, and CRM Databases
