Plant Manager

OVERVIEW:
Responsible for implementing and monitoring plant Safety programs and policies. Ensures plant compliance with government and safety regulations (OSHA, MSHA). Conducts employee training. Responds to emergencies, investigates incidents, and recommends corrective actions. Provides technical guidance on safety issues for operations and equipment. Acts as leader promoting safe work across the facility. Completes required federal, state, and local government reports.

SALARY RANGE:

· $75,000/yr to $100,000/yr, BOE

TYPICAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Implement policies and procedures necessary to meet requirements of occupational health and safety, corporate health and safety policies, and federal, state, county or local health and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate, direct, and monitor plant health and safety compliance, programs, issues and results.
  • Act as a safety leader in the field, identify and correct hazards, audit field work for safety performance. Mentor others in safety leadership and drive continuous improvement.
  • Develop, monitor, and institute programs and procedures to ensure safe and legal operation and maintenance of the facility.
  • Develop, revise and conduct employee safety training. Maintain required related records.
  • Maintain OSHA logs and other safety related records. Periodically review site operations for OSHA compliance. Conduct formal and informal audits. With the support of corporate staff, manage all safety related investigations and inquiries.
  • Manage site workers compensation program and incident and injury tracking and metrics.
  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) to plant team members on safety and regulatory issues and lead and participate in incident investigations and root cause failure analysis.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

Must have effective written and oral communication and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and evaluate hazards, safety issues and technical data. Able to communicate results in layman’s terms; proficiency in Microsoft Software and extensive internet search capabilities; strong interpersonal skills. Attention to detail and organization a must.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS / WORK EXPERIENCE:

BS degree in Safety, Engineering, Science or related field of study with a minimum of 5 years work experience or 8-10 years of work experience in an industrial field with analysis of health and safety regulations as applied to the mining, construction, manufacturing, or related fields.
