Job Description
Title: Accounting Specialist
Accounting Functions
- Maintains the financial records of agency by performing standard accounting/bookkeeping functions
- Ensures all financial data is recorded accurately in QuickBooks
- Maintains Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and General Ledger accounts
- Allocates to the correct cost center and posts monies received from grant-funders and other sources
- Post donations in donor database (Network for Good)
- Coordinates payment of invoices and recurring bills
- Submit payroll data and enter payroll data into QuickBooks every two weeks.
- Ensures the integrity of the financials by performing reviews of income and outgo of all monies received and checks paid
- Ensure financial and other business records are backed up and retrained pursuant to CFIA’s retention policies
- Maintains accounting policies and procedures to assist in continued performance of duties by others and necessary
- Manages cash requirements on a weekly and monthly basis
- Maintains confidentiality and uses discretion in all communications
- Other duties as assigned
Financial Reporting Functions
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual standard accounting reports
- Prepares Federal and State Annual Form 990 Tax forms
- Provides Grant-specific monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting
- Creates ad hoc reports used to support grant applications, specific grant requirements, etc.
- Provide explanation of financial reports to the board of directors at quarterly board meetings
Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- 2 years of experience performing standard accounting/bookkeeping functions, or equivalent education
- Ability to develop skills and knowledge concerning a variety of office systems and equipment
- Demonstrated record of reliability and organization skills
- Ability to work accurately with figures and perform basic calculations
- Ability to accurately enter data into multiple databases
- Competency in MS Office applications, Quickbooks, e-mail, and internet research systems
- Experience working in a dynamic, flexible work environment
- Collinsville Faith in Action requires reliable transportation as well as a valid driver’s license and auto insurance (minimum liability coverage of $100,000 per individual/$300,000 per accident) or state ID.
This is a non-exempt part-time position with expected work taking between 15 to no more than 20 hours per week. Hourly wage is commensurate with experience and technical skills.
